Collaboration for Early Childhood

Non-Profit for Childhood Advocacy with Small Business IT Needs

When the Collaboration for Early Childhood approached FireLogic for help, it was stuck in a position that nonprofits routinely fall into. They just don’t know what they don’t know. A legacy email host was being used; computers were frail and near end of life; and there was a directive to move onto a stable phone provider that reduced in house infrastructure reliance.

To get the Collaboration for Early Childhood to where they are today, FireLogic had to overcome some unique challenges. The group occupies two suites within Oak Park (IL) Village Hall, surrounded by many other organizations. To make matters tougher, their network backbone is tied into equipment managed by Oak Park Village IT staff. Because of this, our technicians took a hybrid approach and brought in a cutting-edge Meraki firewall and access points that were connected into the building’s wiring infrastructure. Each critical computer is backed up to the cloud so that there is no concern for losing vital organization data.

The staff at Collaboration for Early Childhood are very busy advocating for children in metro Chicagoland area. It’s crucial that they don’t have to worry about computers crashing or have their network services go out in the middle of the day. Staff knows that they can call FireLogic at any time for remote and onsite IT support, and receive a fast resolution to their problems. Working on behalf of the youth in the Chicagoland area shouldn’t have to entail stressing over internal IT uptime.

Project Goals:

Collaboration for Early Childhood grew to a size where it became unsustainable to manage its IT systems alone. In addition to needing an ongoing IT support partner, the nonprofit wanted to use a staged overhaul plan to modernize its network, move to hosted email, and deploy cloud-hosted VoIP. Office expansion has been a constant concern as well, and the organization needed an IT partner that could help plan for future growth of existing systems.
