The Vig

Trendy Bar & Restaurant Upgrades Network with Secure Guest WiFi

When management at The Vig approached FireLogic and one of its partners, there was one common denominator everyone could agree on: much was promised in terms of a network infrastructure, but very little was properly delivered on. Guest WiFi was having issues galore; the POS network was far from stable; and dual internet line failover was dead in the water. The Vig needed an SOS and called FireLogic to see what could be done.

After a full-blown diagnosis, network engineers at FireLogic worked with our partner to develop a strategy that would bring The Vig exactly where they needed to be. The solution that was implemented had to provide strong wireless coverage, prevent internet downtime, and keep all reliant devices secure — acknowledging that this client fell under PCI compliance needs. As with all businesses, they had a bottom line to consider, and our engineers made a point to keep that in mind during the project development.

Post cleanup, The Vig can now boast a secure, protected network with a keen eye towards uptime. FireLogic brought in and configured a Meraki dual ISP firewall that implements critical features such as load balancing, advanced malware protection, and full segregation. We placed wireless access points in strategically planned locations to maximize coverage for the entire site. Our technicians also configured software and network-based security solutions to block malicious traffic, protecting The Vig’s sensitive data and keeping them in a state of PCI compliance. FireLogic also ensured that the newly-installed hardware would work with the existing AV equipment that was needed for nightly operations.

In today’s world, a growing number of businesses are focusing on strong, safe networks, to provide quality connections without worrying about hackers and criminals. FireLogic was well positioned to work with The Vig to get them equipped with the latest network and security standards so that their staff can put their attention where it belongs: giving Chicago’s citizens a great night to remember.

Project Goals:

Up and coming hotspot The Vig, in Chicago’s Old Town neighborhood, was experiencing many of the same growing pains as other restaurant startups. An internal network needed best-in-class security and reliability for its back office and POS systems. Customer WiFi needed to be fast with stellar coverage. And The Vig needed a partner they could entrust to tie it all together to ensure PCI compliance was met at every step.
